Sit and Be Fit Instructor

Marty GorinMARTY GORIN took her first plié when she was three years old. She danced with Tidewater Dance Theatre, Southside Ballet, CNU, and ODU in Virginia. Audiences have seen her dancing and choreography in musical theatre throughout the tri-state area. She holds a B.A. from Christopher Newport University and was awarded “Most Distinguished Alumni” in 2000 and 2011. Over 30 years work with special needs populations started with the multi-award winning play, “We are Handi-Capable at the Handi-Café” for Newport News Parks and Recreation to which she was a contributing author, choreographer, and cast member. She originated and facilitated a movement program for Eastern State Hospital, Williamsburg, VA. She served as an Executive Board Member of Very Special Arts, DE for 10 years, and did Artist-in-Residence for schools, nursing homes, and hospitals. A founding member of AbleArts, Inc., she was Artistic Director for 17 years. Marty continues to spread the joy of movement through instruction of Sit and Be Fit classes for the Yes U Can program where participants of all capabilities learn the importance of continued movement throughout our lives. Marty lives in Newark with Greg, her loving husband of 34 years. Their 26 year-old son, Brandon, carries on the theater legacy in Cecil County, MD.
